How to get married in Cancun (procedures)

We suggest you start the process three months before your wedding day in Cancun. We recommend that, if you are getting married in high season (December to April), you select a date more than three months in advance, as this is the most popular time of the year. You should contact directly with the official office of the municipality you have chosen to get married.
For the wedding in Cancun, you will have to bring the following documents:
- Marriage application. This is filled out on the spot and at the time with all your details, those of your parents, and those of the previous spouse in the case of a second marriage.
- Birth certificate or passport
- CURP (Unique population registration number)
- Valid Official identification and a copy (voters card / passport)
- Recent medical documents (within 15 days)
- Property regime agreement, if you do not have one you can apply for it at the same office. This agreement establishes whether youo are getting married in separation of property or in marital partnership
- You and your partner must bring two witnesses each, who will be at the ceremony and will identify themselves with a valid INE or passport
- Payment of fees. First you will fill out three forms that the Civil Registry will provide you with, and the payment will be made at the bank indicated to you, as well as the amount. Also payment of the municipal fee and payment of the judge’s fees.
- Divorce or death certificate if you are divorced or widowed.
